Poor service, partially fixed, with more progress due
For many years there were only long distance Rychlík and EuroCity trains at this border, meaning long distance passengers were well catered for, but local people had no way to get across the border. Engineering works in 2025-26 in Slovakia even weakened those connections too. But now there is positive change here. From December 2026 more long distance services from Czechia will use this border crossing and will be extended all the way to Žilina, and a limited regional service was re-established in December 2025. While there is more potential here than currently realised, this border nevertheless is now performing reasonably well.
